08/11/18 I wish I could have stayed longer but I have plans with Charlotte in the Bahamas, so I am back on planes this morning. Sydney-L.A., L.A. Miami in about 20 hours. I had to wait for 90 min for the free shuttle at the airport which took me to my hotel. I thought I would have a chance to see Miami in the morning before going back to the airport but I was so tired that I woke up for the breakfast then went back to bed for an hour. The check out was at 11am and as I had to be back at the airport at 1pm I just stayed around the pool while waiting for the shuttle. I am very sad I can’t see Miami, so I will plan to come back one day.

The flight to Nassau was only 1 hour but was delayed by an hour, and Charlotte’s flight was delayed too so I wait for 3h in Nassau to pick her up so we could share a taxi and go to the hotel together.

The taxi driver did not seem very alert and picked up another guy (from Belgium!) and we dropped him at a hostel before arriving at the beautiful Atlantis complex on Paradise Island where our hotel was located.

Multiple hotels, restaurants, pools, beaches and water activities can be found on the site, and the decor is inspired by the lost city of Atlantis. We learned that there is a replica in Dubaï, designed by the same guy who designed the one in the Bahamas.

09/11/18 It took us a while to get our heads around, as the site is really big. On our way to a breakfast restaurant we stopped by the Starbucks and it is Cha’s favourite we had breakkie there. Then we spent the day at the Lagoon and went to Nobu, a Japanese restaurant where we shared a few delicious sushi rolls. The fish was so nice and fresh it melts in your mouth. We also had a chance to try the Conch, tropical marine shellfish, loved by the locals.

10/11/18 I got some milk from the coffee place downstairs and ate some cereals Charlotte brought a few packs of my favourite ??! We enjoyed the pool during the day and explored the area in the evening. We bought some candy and fruit then we stopped at Olive for dinner where I had some seabass with coconut risotto and asparagus. Yum!

11/11/18 We spent the day at the pool and went to Nobu again, the Japanese restaurant for dinner. The hotel is full of animals. Rays, starfish, sharks, turtles, dolphins and thousands of fishes. You can swim with some of them. It is great for kids but adults enjoy it too.

12/11/18 We booked the Raise and Shine activity on site, to spent some time with the dolphins. Clear blue water, friendly animals and the sun. What else to ask for?

In the evening we explored the biggest hotel on site, which is a gigantic palace. High ceilings, giant aquarium, multiple restaurants, a marina, boutiques and pools for the tourists to enjoy.

13/11/18 We booked a day trip to visit the swimming pigs, famous local creatures but the tour was cancelled due to strong winds and a risk of storm. We stayed at the pool in the morning then had some fun in the water slides. In the afternoon we took a taxi downtown to take a few pictures of the local colours and to do a bit of shopping. The city is not as fancy as the hotel of course but the locals were very friendly and funny. There is a pleasant and positive holiday vibe everywhere, probably thanks to the sun and the Caribbean music.

For dinner we were hoping to go to the Japanese restaurant again but it was closed ?. The steakhouse required 2h wait so we ended up at Olive again where I had nice scallops on cauliflower purée.
