12/10/18 I reached Page where I stayed last night and this morning I visited the Antelope Canyon. A marvel of nature. It is located on the Navajo territory and I got a walk-in ticket at 7.15am as all the online spots were sold out. You need a guide to get there and a permit to explore the canyon. There are 2 zones to explore, the upper and lower zones. I almost missed it as flooding caused cancellation of tours the day before, and a warning sign was still up on the fence when I got there so I was not sure the tours were operating today.

They take small groups of 10 people and depart every 15 min or so and the walk takes roughly an hour. You are not allowed to take any bag, purse or photo/recording equipment except one phone or camera, but it is so beautiful that whatever angle you take or the quality of your device, all pictures look amazing. Some famous pics were taken here, for National Geo and Macbook screensavers.

I met with a French couple who reminded me that the Horseshoe Bend is located really close and is worth checking out, so I stopped there before leaving Arizona.

On my way to Albuquerque I stopped for some groceries and found a quiet spot on a McDonalds parking 1h away from the city to park for the night. I thought I could drive the full 6h today but as I didn’t sleep much in Vegas I don’t want to fall asleep while driving and it is dark so I don’t see much of the landscape anyway. My next booking is tomorrow afternoon so that still works ok.
