08/10/18 By 2.15pm, I was out of Los Angeles and drove straight to Las Vegas where I planned to meet Lynn and Jenny from AU!
There was a lot of traffic to leave the city so I arrived in Vegas around 7.15pm. I dropped my bags at the airbnb (which was really good, the host, Dorothy is the sweetest) then met Lynn at the Wynn casino for a drink as Jenny was getting some grocery shopping for their Grand Canyon tour the next day. It was so weird seeing them away from Sydney, but so good.
Jenny met us at a café in the Venetian casino where we had a late dinner.
09/10/18 I parked at the High Roller, a big wheel located in the city centre and explored the area. Halloween decorations were already up. The girls spent the day on a tour at the Grand Canyon and I picked them up to go to Fremont street for dinner, the second most popular street after the Strip. It has an older vibe, more accessible than the big luxury casinos on the Strip, with lots of bars, restaurants and entertainment. Later we looked for a bar with good music and met 2 nice guys who kept us company until we got kicked out at closure time (must have been 2am?). Another group keen to keep going joined us and they convinced us to go for a giant beer pong but that place was empty so we found another bar where the party was still going. When that one went quiet we took a taxi to Circus Circus next to where the girls were staying and I spent a bit more time there with lovely Mic we met at the bar before going back to my airbnb. I asked the uber driver to drive me back to Fremont st as my car was still there and when I got to the airbnb around 6am, someone was in the shower and the owner was up too. I thought they might have had a great night out too, but they welcomed me with a good morning and were getting ready to go to work. I can’t remember last time I was up so late. I didn’t see the time passing by, in such great company.
10/10/18 I met the girls for (late) breakfast at Hexx in Paris area and finally made it to the beautiful Bellagio, where I played poker for a few hours (bucketlist: check!). Lynn met me later and we played roulette (her favourite) for a while where I won my money back (thanks Lynn ?) then after half an hour trying to find a place still open for dinner we met Jenny at a café in the Caesar Palace. Lynn got us on the guestlist of the Intrigue, a club inside the Wynn casino where Afrojack was playing. Music was good and we joined a Kia corporate group as they offered us a few drinks. When the lights turned on the girls went back to their new hotel and I spent my night (well a few hours) in the car with a beautiful view on the illuminated High Roller.
11/10/18 We met again for (late) breakfast in New York area and Jenny suggested we should do the roller coaster ride nearby. So much fun! I was a bit worried about my back and neck but no damage to report. Phew! By 5pm I had to say goodbye to the girls and I was back on the road, as my next stop was 5h drive away.
