18/09/18 The Hong Kong public transport website confirmed at 5.30am that my bus to the airport was back on the road today, perfect for me as it is a direct one. Today if my flight is not delayed or cancelled due to the typhoon damages, I am going to the US.
Both flights were fine and on time, I arrived in Seattle around 6pm so didn’t have much time to explore. I just walked up to the markets, popular area near Pike Place and had dinner at the Hard Rock Café. Turns out I am sharing the room with at least 2 boys, but I am getting used to the earplugs so I will be fine.
19/09/18 I picked up the car early and got a black Kia Sorento, middle sized SUV. It is really big and it only has 12000km so I am afraid I will struggle to maneuver and make scratches or other careless people will not pay attention to it. The good thing is there is enough space to put a mattress at the back, so I drove to REI shop to buy a gas cooker, gas and a pot, then to Ikea to get a mattress, a pillow and a few kitchen accessories so I can cook a little on the way (and try to avoid fast foods as much as possible).
In the morning I went to the MoPOP museum to see many various exhibits on Marvel, video games, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Jimmy Hendrix belongings, horror movies, fantasy world and an area to learn how to play music instruments. It was not busy at all so I could see everything, I spent about 3h inside, I really enjoyed the visit. It brought back so many memories! On the sad note, I got fined because I didn’t get a parking ticket, as I thought I would pay when leaving, not on arrival.
20/09/18 I had breakfast at the hostel and drove straight to Vancouver. The queue at the border for immigration check was quick and it was poorly raining when I arrived at the hostel. I parked the car nearby and could do an early checkin so I secured my valuables in the locker, then drove to the Granville Public Market to explore and get some late lunch. I sat down to eat a reuben bagel and had a chat with a German girl and a British couple of retirees.
Then I drove through the Stanley park, which has nice views but I stayed in the car as it was still raining. Back at the hostel, I paid for 10h parking, the max I could get to be safe until 4am. There is a chance I will get fined again ?.
In the evening, I talked to one of my directors on the phone about the recent company acquisition, it seems like I need to sign a new contract.
I also went to the local Microsoft store opened late as my tablet got stuck in a reboot loop since I downloaded a few episodes on Netflix the other night. They could not fix it so they gave me another one, luckily mine was still under warranty. But I lost the files that were stored on it, not sure exactly what I lost, as my photos were backed up on iCloud and an external drive but not the rest.
21/09/18 I went to the Science World to play with some funny experiments and see an amazing and inspiring exhibition on Pixar Studios. Later I went shopping for groceries to prepare the road trip.
